A Highly Selective Process
A very small percentage of logs are even considered for heart pine. Only 60-80 year old trees with the right characteristics are suitable. Littrell Lumber Mill guarantees 50% of the board face to be heart wood. This 50% assurance is unique. Other new heart pine producers have little if any guidelines to follow.

Making the Grade
New Heart Pine Flooring is no accident. The heart pine grading process starts in the mill. Every cant is graded before setworks are chosen. This is only the first in a long line of checkpoints the heart pine must pass before making the final cut.
